Envelope Art

Today I can finally share with you my very first piece of Envelope Art.! I was part of an fun envelope swap organised by the lovely and very talented  Wendy Walsh at Wendy Lee Designs
Why not pop on by and tell her I said Hi!

After I got my partner I thought.. hmm now what do I do, I've never actually done this before..  So I had  a little think, and started to pull bits and pieces out, inks, paints stamps and rub ons, paper, what ever I could find.. just sat down and stuck things down.. let it sort of take on a mind of it's own, this is what happened. I love how it turned out!

Don't you just love this little cutie, she is cut from a collage sheet and layered on top of a butterfly cut out of a piece of Tim Holtz Paper.

I actually opened the envelope all the way out when I was collaging it, and the refolded it, that was how I managed to be able to add in a bit of machine stitching around the outside edges.

It has since been posted off and found it's new home where it is  very well loved which makes me happy. I think I will most definitely have another go at this!

thanks so much for stopping by,

Happy Creating,
Karen xx

Be You - with Lulu!

Hi Guys.. I have some very exciting news to share with you today..

I've been lucky enough to be asked to be a part of the wonderful LuluArt Design Team. I'm so very happy to be a part of the little LuluArt family, and would love to share with you my very first Dt project..

For those of you that don't know me, I love to create on tags. I love the challenge of creating on such a small place. I have collected all my tags within a Tim Holtz worn bookcover, and use this as a little art journal.   My tag today - be you...uses a few of my favourite supplies...Distress inks and paints...

So without to much more babbling from me.. Here is my tag...  You can see it in a bit more detail through  a quick little video of the steps I used to create it over on the LuluArt blog here..  We'd love for you to drop on by!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, hope to see you again soon, and until next time.
Happy creating!!

Saturday 1 March 2014

phew .. In a nick of time..

Good Morning! I cant believe its the First day of March!.. I love the fact sometimes that the US is a day behind us, it means when I'm running late , I get an extra day to the month.. well sort of anyway..

I needed it this month..  I want to share with you my version of Tim Holtz's  February tag  for 12 tags of 2014.

This is Tim's version - a gorgeous tag ...

DSC08729

and here is my version.. I started off with good intentions..   Honestly I did!!

I die cut and coloured my feathers.. and with every good intention, like I mentioned before I sat down and started at the beginning of Tim's step by step instructions.. things started to take on a mind of their own then..  and this is what I ended up with..  A bit different to Tim's but a few of the main elements of the tag are the same, the  stencilled background, and die cut and distress glittered feathers..

And as always you cant go past a few close ups..

I love the  combination of Distress inks and  Distress stain. For my background I've used Distress stain in Broken China, Pumice Stone and Frayed Burlap, and Distress Inks in Walnut stain and Pumice Stone.

I couldn't go past adding in some of my fave Idea-ology!!

and a few remnant rubs...

Thanks so much for stopping by again.
Hope to see you again soon. Have a wonderfully creative weekend!
